What kind of Home Business Work can be Outsourced
I’ve talked a lot about working from home, but what do you do when you have TOO much work to do and can’t seem to make deadlines? What kind of home business work can be outsourced to save you time and help you get ahead of the game? Outsourcing to a virtual assistant or another company is a great idea if you need the extra help – and if it’s in your budget. Let’s talk about it!
Accounting
Keeping track of finances like income, expenses, taxes, and payroll can be tough. Not to mention extremely time-consuming. Outsourcing your accounting is as easy as finding someone you trust and that knows what they are doing. Not only will you save time, but you will have peace of mind knowing that your taxes and payroll are all figured out and set straight. You wouldn’t want to mess up either of those!
Writing and Editing
If your business requires a lot of writing (like a blog or something of the sort), outsourcing that work to someone is great when you have writers’ block. If you aren’t confident in your grammar and spelling, but you know what you want to say, you could even outsource to someone who specializes in editing and proofreading. You can find a ton of people who offer these services for really great prices!
Social Media
Do you find it tough to keep up with ALL of the different social media accounts your business has? If you’re marketing like crazy, then you probably have a Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Instagram, LinkedIn, and maybe even more! Handling all of those accounts every single day can be daunting… Especially when replying to comments and messages. You can find someone to handle all of that for you; give them some basic scripts to use for the main inquiries or messages you usually get. Most people will charge you per week or per month to manage your social media. It’s a great option if you’re feeling overwhelmed!!
Advertisements
Do you know how to make targeted ads for Facebook? How about Twitter? This is a great skill to have, and not so easily mastered. Outsourcing your advertising and having a solid budget for it will help grow your business while you focus on running it.
There is so much home business work that can be outsourced, but these are the ones that are most common and the most successful. Outsourcing work every now and then allows you to focus on your business and let someone else worry about the smaller details.

XOXO,
Coach Nat
Social media and content seem to be what people out source the most of in my experience.
People out source to me, so I’m not out sourcing
I love your set up Natalie! We met on Twitter (I was wondering why you used a bitly link on your Twitter profile, especially when you have such a nice stand alone domain name). Anyway, it would be interesting to know, how much these various Outsourcing endeavors cost. For a small business owner, the cost of outsourcing might out weigh the time it saves you doing it yourself. I can really empathize with Candess and Robin above. How many times do you find yourself saying, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself!”, when they can’t get it right? We are all limited as to how many hours a week we can work, eventually one would have to farm out some of the work if you want your business to grow. Maybe it would be better to partner first with one reliable person, One whom you share and coordinate all responsibilities with, rather than use various vendors for pay as you go services.
I have outsourced, but not enough, although I do always recommend it to my clients. I have even outsourced projects for them such as logo design and content creation.
Getting business owners to outsource can be a tough sell! I’d love to see more of them spend time working on the $1000 – $10,000 tasks rather than on the $10 – $50 tasks. Making this change in their business could be transformational. However, I understand how difficult outsourcing can be from both financial and mindset aspects. Great suggestions!
I outsource graphics and editing of blog posts. I’m working on outsourcing more, but BABY STEPS! 🙂
Natalie, it is encouraging to have this kind of business support. Finding the right people though is difficult. I have been amazed at how many people don’t check their own work. I’ve had to pay people to make corrections from errors they could have caught themselves. It would be great to have a blog on how to vet contract workers.
Great list of out-sourceable tasks. I agree it is necessary, and have done some myself. The social media seems most logical, but I found it to be most difficult. “They” would ask what I wanted to post, and if I knew that, then why did I need “them?? So, whatever, the task is, I believe we need to have a idea of that involves first.
outsourcing has become a necessity these days for sure. I still am doing much myself but have begun to outsource the maintenance for my blog. I also have someone handle the SEO for my site. May look to do some social media outsourcing as well if I find this becomes cumbersome. Right now it is time consuming but fun too!
Great post, Natalie. I’m outsourcing my ezines and email administration. I recently wrote down a HUGE list of things I want to eventually outsource and look forward to expanding what I outsource now to really helping me take the next level.
